VI. Race Date and Place

a) Date: 8:30 a.m., Sunday, January 18, 2026.

b) Place: The race will take place along Nanbin Road and Babin Road, Chongqing.

VII. Event Capacity

a) Marathon (42.195 km)

Haitang Yanyu Park (Start) — Under Chaotianmen Bridge (Turnaround) —Haitang Yanyu Park — Yangtze River Bridge — Meidiyacheng Intersection — Lijiakuo Bridge — Ronghui Jiangshan Intersection (Turnaround) — Lijiakuo Bridge — Meidiyacheng Intersection — Yangtze River Bridge — Haitang Yanyu Park (Finish).

b) Mini Run (5 km)

Haitang Yanyu Park (Start) — Under Chaotianmen Bridge (Finish).

IX. Rules of Competition

a) This event follows the latest rules from the Chinese Athletics Association, World Athletics road race regulations, the Chinese Athletics Association’s 2025 road race management guidelines, and this event’s specific regulations.

b) Start Waves: The race will start in separate waves. Start wave assignments will be provided based on registration details..

c) Start Corrals:

i. Participants must arrive at their assigned start corrals.

ii. Marathon corrals will be assigned based on participants’ best marathon times from Chinese Athletics Association-certified 'A Category' events in the past two years. Sponsor quota participants will be placed in the last corral.

d) Roll call

i. Participants must check in at their designated corral 60 minutes before the race.

ii. Participants in later corrals may not move to earlier corrals. The organizing committee will set up the roll-call mat in front of each corral. Participants must pass their corral’s check-in mat and the starting line timing mat to avoid disqualification.

iii. The competition allows disabled athletes who meet the competition requirements to participate. To ensure safety, wheelchair participants must start from the last corral, or they will be disqualified.

e) Closing time

In the interest of safety, and to allow streets to reopen as scheduled, race courses will remain open to all participants, per the posted course closing time on the individual race page. Participants unable to complete the course by the closing time must move to the sidewalks, board the sweep bus, or use public transportation to reach the finish area but may not cross the finish line.

 Remark: The organizing committee has the right to interrupt the event for any emergency. Runners MUST follow the instruction of the official personnel.

 

f) Timing

i. Participants’ official (net) finish time is recorded from crossing the starting line to crossing the finish line..

ii. The official participant bib, which displays the race number, must be always fully visible and worn on the front of your torso on your outermost garment. To ensure accurate timing, do not fold, wrinkle, damage, or remove the bib. Participants who run the race without their bib properly attached and displayed may not have their finish time recorded and may not be listed in the results.

iii. Participants with missing or irregular split times at official checkpoints (start, finish, every 5 km, 21.0975 km, and turnarounds) may be reviewed and disqualified.

g) Bag Check

i. The 2026 Chongqing Marathon will allow runners to check a bag of their belongings at the start of the race before 8:10 and retrieve it before 15:30 on race day. After that time, runners can collect their bags from the designated location within 5 working days after the race. Any unclaimed bags will be disposed of by the organizing committee. The items listed below are prohibited from being checked in the bag, and the bag’s owner will take full responsibility for any damage, loss, or accidents.

i) Medical Aid

i. Medical aid stations are located at the start, every 2.5km starting at kilometer 5 and the finish.

ii. The medical team is equipped with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in ambulances along the course.

iii. If participants experience unusual symptoms, they should seek medical attention at the start, along the course, or at the finish.

iv. Participants must stop racing if instructed by medical staff. All consequences of continuing are the participant’s responsibility.

j) Toilets, cooling facilities and environmental protection

i. Toilets are located at the start, 1km,3 km, every 2.5 km from kilometer 5, and the finish.

ii. Cooling facilities set up along the race and at the finish area.

iii. Participants must not urinate in public and must dispose of garbage in designated trash cans.

k) All participants, including retired athletes, must comply with the World Anti-Doping Code and the Anti-Doping Rules of the General Administration of Sport of China. Doping tests will be conducted per World Athletics, Chinese Athletics Association, and event regulations.

l) Participants who finish within the cut-off time can check results and download or print their certificate on the official website or WeChat account.

m) Refer to the official manual for additional requirements and arrangements.

X. Registration

a) Age Requirement

i. Marathon participants must be at least 20 years old (born before December 31, 2006).

ii. Minors under 16 must have their guardian or legal representative sign the Participant Declaration to register. Minors under 13 must be accompanied by their guardian during the event.

b) Competition Experience

Marathon participants must have completed a marathon or half-marathon race between January 1, 2023, and July 31, 2025, with results verifiable on the 'China Marathon' website. Virtual marathon results are not valid.

c) Physical Requirement

Road race is not only a high-intensity and long-distance competitive sport, but also a high-risk competitive event. It requires participants to be in excellent physical condition. The contestants should be healthy and have the basis for long-term running exercise. Participants should choose either the marathon or mini run based on their physical condition and ability.

 

Anyone who has any of the following diseases is prohibited to participate in the race:

1. Congenital heart disease and rheumatic heart disease.

2. Hypertension and cerebrovascular disease.

3. Myocarditis and other heart diseases.

4. Coronary artery disease and severe irregular heartbeat.

5. Diabetes.

6. Having cold symptoms 30 days prior to the race.

7. Excessive alcohol consumption or lack of sleep the night before the race.

8. Pregnant.

9. Other medical conditions unsuitable for intense physical activity.

The Organizing Committee strongly recommends that participants undergo a medical examination and purchase personal accident insurance.

d) How to register

ii.  Performance-Based Direct Entry

(1) The Performance-Based Direct Entry for this event is set at 10,000 participants.

(2) Participants who meet the “2026 Chongqing Marathon Age Group Qualification Standards” will be eligible for direct entry in their respective age group. Age groups are determined by subtracting the birth year from 2025.

(4) If the total number of qualified participants exceeds 10,000, the direct entry quota for each age group will be calculated as:

Direct Entry Quota = 10,000 × (Number of Qualified Participants in the Age Group / Total Qualified Participants).

Participants will be ranked by performance within their age group, with top performers prioritized until the quota is filled.

(5) Reference for Qualification Results: The participant’s best net finishing time in a marathon or half-marathon event, verifiable on the “China Marathon” website, held between January 1, 2023, and July 31, 2025.

iii. Series Race Direct Entry: 1,000 participants
The top 500 male and female finishers in the 2025 Chongqing (Changjiahui) Half-Marathon can register and complete payment on the official website from December 1 to December 7, 2025. Failure to register by the deadline will be considered a forfeiture of the direct entry quota.

iv.  Run for Charity: 500 participants
Allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until the quota is filled.

v. Sponsor and Partner Media Entry: 3,500 participants.

h) Registration Procedure

i. General Participants:

1. Log in to the official website or official WeChat account.

2. Click on online registration.

3. Select the event to register for.

4. Read and agree to the Participant Declaration, Anti-Doping Commitment, and Personal Privacy Statement.

5. Complete the questionnaire.

6. Fill in personal information.

7. Pay the registration fee.

8. Participate in the lottery.

ii. Elite Athletes:

1. Elite athletes are directly invited by the organizing committee and do not register as general participants. Domestic elite athletes are those currently registered in the testing pool or inspection pool of the Anti-Doping Center of the General Administration of Sport of China.

2. Elite athletes who wish to register must contact the organizing committee for application (email: cd@cqmarathon.com).

iii. Participants with Disabilities:

The registration process for participants with disabilities follows the relevant regulations outlined in the Notice on the Participation of Athletes with Disabilities in National Marathon and Related Sports Events on the Chinese Athletics Association’s official website:

1. This event does not include a competitive wheelchair category, and competitive wheelchair athletes are not allowed to participate.

2. Participants with disabilities (including wheelchair athletes) must meet the registration eligibility requirements and pay the registration fee as required. Visually impaired participants must upload proof of disability during the registration phase and provide information about an accompanying runner.

3. Before the start of the race, participants with visual impairments, hearing impairments, intellectual disabilities, or upper limb disabilities will assemble and check in with general participants in their respective zones. Wheelchair participants must check in and start from the last assembly zone for their event.

4. During the race, to ensure the safety of all participants, visually impaired participants must be accompanied by a guide runner throughout the event. Other participants with disabilities and wheelchair participants are also recommended to have an accompanying runner. The accompanying runner must be selected from officially registered participants who have been selected through the lottery.

i) Race Packet Pick-up: Participants must pick up their race packets as outlined in the 'Pick-up Instructions' on the official website, WeChat, and Weibo accounts.

XI. Award

c) Requirements of Award Receiving

i. Winners’ results will be posted on the official website for 10 days. Prizes will be awarded after confirming no doping violations. Athletes failing doping tests will have their rankings and prizes canceled, with no replacement for subsequent rankings.

ii. Ranking prize and record-breaking prize can be accumulated for reward.

iii. All prize money is subject to the Individual Income Tax Law of the People's Republic of China. The Organizing Committee shall pay 20% individual income tax on the prize money. The top eight runners in the men's and women's marathon events must pay 2% of their prize money as the contribution of international elite athletes to the Anti-Doping Testing Fund, which will be deducted directly from the prize money by the Organizing Committee and paid to the World Athletics.

XII. Penalties

The organizing committee will conduct video surveillance of the entire race (including the start and finish points). If any of the following problems occur during the race, the staff and referees have the right to terminate the race, confiscate the bib number of the offending participant on the spot, and disqualify the participant from the race. Post-race, the Organizing Committee may impose penalties based on violation severity, including result cancellation, a 1–3-year ban, a lifetime ban, or reporting to the Chinese Athletics Association for further penalties.

i. Providing false age information during registration.

ii. Concealing personal physical disease.

iii. Participating in the competition under a false name, forging the competition number or certificate, or engaging in fraud;

iv. Failure to wear required cloth and bib number.

v. Failure to pass the roll-call mat of his/her corral and then timing mat of starting point.

vi. Violating the rules at the start.

vii. Entering the track in any vehicle in violation of the regulations.

viii. Taking a shortcut or using a means of transport other than running.

ix. Unsportsmanlike conduct, such as pushing, tripping, or colliding with others.

x. Crossing the finishing line without completing the race or repeatedly crossing the finishing line to collect finisher’s medals and other goods.

xi. Those who do not complete the race but secretly pass the finish line to collect souvenirs

xii. Refusing to follow the instructions of an event official.

xiii. Abuse, fight and trouble during the event.

xiv. Engaging in intentional non-competitive or passive behavior to gain unfair advantages.

xv. Making inappropriate remarks about sports events, causing adverse effects

xvi. Other acts that violate the spirit of sports and morals and cause adverse effects

xvii. Other violations not specified in these Rules of Competition based on all relevant facts and circumstances.

XIII. Insurance

a) The Organizing Committee provides liability insurance for all participants and staff based on registration information. Incorrect information may result in lack of coverage.

b) Participants running for others, without permission, or with unauthorized bibs will not be covered by insurance and may face penalties.

c) The organizing committee strongly recommends that all contestants go to medical institutions for health examinations and purchase personal accident insurance covering marathon events.

d) If a participant’s health issues (e.g., chronic illness, insufficient endurance) result in conditions like heatstroke or fainting, and the insurance company denies coverage, the participant bears all related costs and responsibilities Participants are advised to assess their own health conditions carefully before registering and participating in the race.

e) The Organizing Committee will provide free first aid medical treatment during the race, which is limited to what can be done on site. The Organizing Committee may provide the necessary information to assist the participant in claiming compensation for expenses incurred in the course of treatment at the hospital, which are within the scope of the claim, after the participant has settled the bill with the hospital, and then apply for compensation from the insurance company or negotiate with the insurance company on his/her own.
